ScreenPlay Build 28: A Major Leap Forward

The most anticipated update for our game, Build 28, is here and it’s a big one! Yes, we’ve even got memes about how long it’s taken us to get here floating around our Discord. Here are few of our favorite Build 28 memes from our community:

Writing this post feels huge because we’ve packed so much into Build 28 and we want to share every bit of it with you.

Let’s dive in:

We’ve introduced a whole new in-game economy. Yes, directors, you read that right. Now you can manage card packs, craft cards, and make purchases from the in-game store using in-game currency. For now, real money transactions are off the table. We want you to focus on playing, having fun, and collecting awesome stuff.

Card packs are here! What’s a digital collectible card game without the thrill of opening card packs? You can purchase card packs by gaining soft or hard currency on completely daily missions.

Crafting cards is now a thing. Cannot wait to get your favourite card? Just craft them directly using in-game hard currency.

Player now have Ranks, achieving by winning competitive PvP matches. In the next versions Ranks system will became deeper and yield more rewards!

We’re introducing two in-game currencies: Tickets and Goldies. Players can get these in-game currencies as rewards for PvP matches and completing daily missions. Tickets allows you to buy card packs and Goldies is for buying cosmetics (such as unique deck covers, directors, movie sets, etc.), crafting cards and more. Remember, no real money involved yet. Just play, enjoy, and collect.

Customization options have exploded:

Choose from a variety of director avatars, including animated versions for that extra flair.

Movie sets let you express your directing style. Whether you’re into horror, drama, or any other genre, we’ve got you covered.

Get unique, genre or movie-related card backs and deck covers to stand out.

But what about the cards themselves? We’ve added over a hundred new cards, bringing our total to a hefty collection. With 22 lead characters now available, there’s plenty to explore.

New to ScreenPlay? All players will receive a starter set of cards, new Leads and several pre-constructed decks. By acquiring new cards you’ll be able to expand the pre-constructed decks and build your own. The starter set leads help you get comfortable before moving on to more complex lead characters.

Another notable addition, we have also added a system to easily export your decklists and import decklists from online.

We’ve revamped the tutorial to make learning ScreenPlay easier and more fun. It’s still a work in progress, with voiceovers and some polish to come, but it’s a huge step up from our previous tutorial.

And there’s more: cool new VFX for cards, updated card arts, new animations for high-value attacks, and unique entrance and max-out animations for lead characters.

For our Discord community and tournament participants, expect unique codes for rewards. And stay tuned for more community-driven tournaments. If you’re not on our Discord yet, now’s the time to join and claim your rewards.

Looking ahead, we’re focused on speeding up the game, adding new content (card arts, VFX, SFX, and more), introducing a payment option for those who wish to support us, improving the matchmaking system, and adding PvE content.

Your support means the world to us. We’re a small team, always open to feedback, ideas, and suggestions. Help us shape this game into something fun for everyone.

Lastly, with this update, we have to wipe your profiles. This is necessary given in previous version you had all cards already and it was designed for playtest experience. However, with the economy, players have to acquire cards, and your old decks would be invalid, so the best solution was to wipe the profiles. You start from a new player’s POV. However, any rewards and cards you obtain from Build 28 will remain with you even on EA. This would be extremely rare for us to do any more profile wiping again. Thank you for your understanding.
Best,
The ScreenPlay Team
